ong Range Maritime Reconnaissater, parasol flying boat with wing resting on thick pylon without struts. Stabilizing floats attached to the outer wing panels. Engines are cowled and equipped with air-cooling gills. Fabric cover used only on ailerons, elevators and rudder. Ailerons placed close to wingtips, leaving room for large flaps.
Two aircraft were built in 1938, the second - in amphibious configuration. During tests the hull was extended forward by 0.3m and landing gear deleted.
Speed and ceiling were quite good, but range and flight endurance turned to be insufficient, just a 50% of American built flying boats. Why? Aircraft was seriously overweight...
No production followed.
TsKBMS-5 is internal bureau designation, in some documents 'clipped' to MS-5.
