Yak-13 (Yak-12), A.S.Yakovlev


L
ow-wing 3-4 seat liaison monoplane with enclosed cockpit, built in November 1944. Designation Yak-12 fas replaced by Yak-13 after design stage was completed. Yak-13 was equipped by VISh-327 variable-pitch propeller by G.M.Zaslavskij. Construction - mostly wood/plywood, with aluminum skin on tailplane and fin, fabric - on ailerons and tail controls.
Aluminum landing flaps installed under the fuselage and wing roots. Main landing gear - retractable, tailwheel - fixed.
Trials took place in 1945. Performance was found good, but contemporary high-wing Yak-10 was found more promising. Yak-13 was abandoned.
