U-3, N.G.Mikhelson and A.I.Morschikhin


U
-3 was an upscaled modification of the U-2. It intended as next step trainer, which may be flown with substantially larger payload than the U-2. Construction of the U-3 included many duralumin joints. General 'weight culture' was quite high.
Factory trials in 1935 did not reveal serious advantages. The 200hp M-48 engine did not enter mass production. As a result U-3 also remained experimental.
