Pe-2M bomber by V.M.Petlyakov

One
of attempts to increase bomber efficiency. Lower part of the fuselage was enlarged to fit a 500kg FAB-500 in the internal bomb bay. It was intended for VK-107 engines, but those were not ready and VK-105 with TK were installed.
Aircraft was ready on October 16, 1941. During trials air intakes were enlarged and automatic slats were installed.
Situation on Soviet-German fronts at the time forced factories and KBs to be evacuated eastwards. Introduction of changes into production designs under such a critical circumstances were not welcome, and Pe-2M was abandoned.
