TsKB-30, S.V.Ilyushin

A
ll-metal development of the TsKB-26. It was armed three-seat aircraft. Its construction was an extreme development of wielded tube frames. Wielding quality was monitored by X-Ray facilities, had very high quality - but required a lot of 'hand crafting'.
Became an origin of the DB-3 series.
The prototype (after all tests were completed and series production started) was designated 'Moscow'. Following non-stop flight records were set with this aircraft:
  • June 27-28 1938 : Moscow - Spassk-Dalnij, 7580km in 24h 36min, mostly at 7000m (V.K.Kokkinaki, A.M.Briandinskij);
  • April 28-29 1939 : Moscow - USA (Miskoy Island), 8000km in 22h56min (V.K.Kokkinaki, M.Kh.Gordienko);
