arasol single-seater with 150hpHispano-Suiza.
Aircraft had quite a weird wing: It was just a flat 'desk' with rounded leading edge and sharpened trailing edge. Fuselage
also had very simple straight shape.
Aircraft, intended for training duties, was built at Serpukhov School of Gunnery and Bombardment
StrelBom by designer and his students (like the
VOP-1). V.O.Pisarenko asked for permit
to fly it, but since no calculations were presented (none existed!) the permit was not issued. Taxi trials only were allowed.
After receiving this limited permit, V.O.Pisarenko boarded the aircraft, performed
some taxi... than took off and flew to Moscow Central Airfield (Khodynka). There he managed to perform another flight (before
officials were alerted), demonstrating some pilotage figures.
He landed successfully second time, but never tried to fly the machine again. Neither with a permit or without one...
After all those tricks V.O.Pisarenko got an opportunity to design trainer aircraft
suitable for mass production. Work was financed by UVVS, but cancelled soon when the
N.N.PolikarpovU-2 emerged.
