80hp air-cooling 9 cyl. M-22 engine was a licence built French
Gnome-Rhone Jupiter IV, developed by British Bristol
company in 1925. First licensed (and converted for metric system) by French
manufacturer, it was licensed and build (as a
Gnome-Rhone) in the USSR, Germany, Italy and Czechoslovakia. One of the best engines of its time.
High altitude engine. Cylinder design was a challenge for manufacturers: four-valve head made of light alloy was mounted to
the steel bottom.
It manufactured at State Factory 29 in Aleksandrovsk until 1936. It was
normally fitted with fixed pitch two bladed V-22 metal propeller. "In Service" until
1937-1938.
