igh altitude engine, one of the most powerful in the world at the time. Fighter use had
serious disadvantage - there were no opportunity to install cannon firing through the shaft. As a result
MiG-1 and MiG-3 fighters were
obviously underarmed.
It also was not good for low flying ground attackers - there were no high altitude applications for this class of aircraft,
and on low altitude superchargers consumed too much power without much positive effect.
