ANT-43, A.N.TupolevP roject of seven-seat aircraft started in 1936. ANT-43 was ordered as a
army liason ('shtabnoj') aircraft, but also could serve as a passenger carrier. It was an enlarged reproduction of the
I-14 fighter, with smooth metal skin and retractable landing gear. Technological novelties (similar to those
of Douglas DC-3) resulted in 'over-improvising': too many parts and assembly was done 'on the spot', without any drawings and calculations.
